Abstract
•A protocol to functionalise atomic force microscopy tips with ibuprofen is proposed.•The structure of albumin on glutaraldehyde functionalized gold surfaces is determined by atomic force microscopy.•The energetic landscape of the interaction between albumin and ibuprofen is determined by means of force spectroscopy.•The results show that the interaction corresponds a two state transition process and suggest that albumin loses partially its functionality after immobilization.
