Abstract
•Two molecular solids containing [Zn(NCS)4]2− anion were synthesized and characterized.•The [Zn(NCS)4]2− anions in two molecular solids form 1D chain through weak S⋯S interaction.•The cations in 2 form a 1D column through CH⋯S, CH⋯O hydrogen bonds and p⋯π interaction.•Two molecular solids show strong fluorescence emission in the solid state at room temperature.
