Abstract
Visibility-reduced monocopter is a single-winged rotorcraft involved with the concept of invisibility due to the persistence of vision. While spinning, it is highly deceptive to human observer since it has no stationary part and the center of mass is outside to the aircraft frame. In this paper, 6-degrees of freedom (6-DOF) dynamics of this type of monocopters are established based on the blade element momentum theory. In light of stability criterion, the rotational stability is guaranteed by the analysis of analytical solutions of the motion. Through the analysis of stability region, the designing criteria for inertia, blade geometry, and static stability margin are provided as well. In the end, the phenomenon of forced oscillation in a translational flight is mathematically derived under a simplified circumstance, and the phase lag is verified by the simulation results.
