摘要

•Zn0.95Co0.05O nanopowders are characterized by high structural order.•Co atoms show no tendency for Co–Co clustering and Co–Ov complexes formation.•Co–O–Co clustering along the c-axis has not lead to ferromagnetic order.•XMCD provides no evidence of magnetic polarization of O 2p and Co 3d states.
