•Efficacy of oxalate degrading Lactic acid bacteria and quercetin were investigated.•Quercetin reduces the oxalate mediated oxidative stress.•Lactic acid bacteria decrease the urinary oxalate excretion and calcium oxalate deposition.•Combined effects protect the calcium oxalate deposition in kidney.
