•We investigated pressure development and transmission in CO2 storage site.•We measured and modeled caprock compressibility and permeability.•Measured compressibility is one order of magnitude lower than normally assumed.•Measured compressibility shows 5bar overpressure compared with the standard value.•Vertical pressure transmission is possible with permeability above 1μD.
