Abstract
A simple and efficient method for the benzylation of beta-ketoesters by employing copper salt as a catalyst was developed. The mild reaction system and a wide range of substrates with high yields make the protocol very practical. It provides a new route for the synthesis of alpha-benzyl-beta-ketoesters.
