Quantifying the association between measured features of the built environment and individual health outcomes: A cross-community comparison
Canadian Journal of Diabetes(2011)
Abstract
Introduction: Studies related to the impact of built environments on health behaviours are limited in their utility by their use of macro-level indicators (e.g., land-use mix and intersection density) to describe walkability at various levels of geographies. The current research considers the impact of micro-level features of built environments (e.g., sidewalk presence and access to desirable destinations) on health-related outcomes.
