SIRT2 is Required for Axon Regeneration in Adult Sensory Neurons and High Glucose Concentration Reduces Its Expression in Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic sensory neuropathy is a nerve disorder that results in nerve degeneration and neuronal mitochondrial dysfunction and Sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) is a key sensor of redox state that regulates cellular bioenergetics. We hypothesized that defective SIRT2 signalling contributed to deficiencies in energy supply and nerve regeneration in diabetic neuropathy.
