Metabolic syndrome (MeS) is associated with a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes1. Few studies have assessed the effect of weight loss following LAP-BAND AP® adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) on prevalence of MeS. No study has compared gender and regional differences in MeS after banding.
