Abstract Some phosphorylated derivatives of vitamin A undergo a true chemical reaction when they are chromatographed on silicic acid; for instance retinylphosphate is transformed to anhydroretinol and the recovery is poor (about 15%). However, all the chromatographic steps, including packing and elution, are carried out in the presence of 0.5% triethylamine, the recovery goes up to 85%.
