Abstract
Objectives: Diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The goal for reducing complications is to maintain a good metabolic control. There are limited and conflicting data from trials concerning the beneficial effects of magnesium supplementation. The aim of the present study was to examine the effects of oral magnesium supplementation on the metabolic control and insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetic patients.
