PLGA (85:15) nanoparticle based delivery of rL7/L12 ribosomal protein in mice protects against Brucella abortus 544 infection: A promising alternate to traditional adjuvants

•Nanoparticles entrapping rl7/L12 antigen were prepared.•A remarkable increase in the IgG titer was recorded after first immunization.•Stimulated significant amount of IFN-γ and TNF-α.•Significant reduction in splenic CFU of the vaccinated mice was observed.•Particles were extremely stable for months during storage in −20°C.•No degradation or aggregated protein was observed in SDS PAGE analysis of stored nanoparticles.
