Abstract
Carbon-polycarbonate films were investigated as a conductive substrate with the potential for monitoring chronic wounds. The films were found to be mechanically flexible and could be easily integrated within conventional dressing materials. The electrochemical properties of the films and their ability to selectively monitor urate (as an endogenous pH probe) were investigated. A preliminary assessment of its performance in simulated wound fluid was conducted.
