Abstract
•Overview on effects of notch acuity on fracture toughness is given.•These effects depend on temperature/fracture mode (brittle, ductile, transition).•Closed-form analytical relations are derived to estimate these effects.•The results are validated by test data of a typical RPV-steel.•The derived parametric formuli are applicable to other metals as well.
