Chemo-immunotherapy of metastatic malignant melanoma The Salpetriere Hospital (SOMPS) experience

Chemotherapy as well as immunotherapy seem today to have reached a plateau in Melanoma, with objective response rates between 10 to 25 % for the best studied single agents like Dacarbazine, Nitrosoureas, Interleukine-2 and Interferons. Although long lasting and complete responses have been obtained in those studies, clinical benefit is still achieved only in a minority of patients. More successful strategies are necessary for the systemic treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma.
