A CASE OF MALIGNANT PHYLLODES TUMOR IN A 19 YEAR-OLD YOUNG WOMAN

Malignant phyllodes tumor is an unusual breast neoplasm. Recently, we experienced a curatively resected case of malignant phyllodes tumor in a 19-year-old woman. She was seen at the department because of a left breast tumor measured 5×5cm in size. It was suspected of a giant fibroadenoma by ultrasonography and was treated by enucleation. Histological examination revealed that the tumor was malignant phyllodes tumor and a modified radical mastectomy was performed. Malignant phyllodes tumor in juveniles under 19 years old is very rare. Although the definite guidline for the treatment of malignant phyllodes tumor has not been established as yet, complete resection of the tumor in an early phase is recommended, because radiation and chemotherapy exert insufficient effects.
