Otologic Findings in a Patient with Brainstem Arteriovenous Malformation

Cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is frequently seen in the anterior circulation, but rarely in the brainstem. We recently examined a 19-year-old male who had been suffering from left hemifacial spasm for 1 year. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)demonstrated extensive AVM in the brainstem. Otologic examination especially auditory brain stemresponce, eye tracking test, and optokinetic pattern showed abnormalities.Although the AVM was extensive throughout the left side of the brainstem, he exhibited only a few clincal signs.
