Abstract
The time-course of tumor growth was observed by barium enema in a comparatively rare case of malignant lymphoma originating from the ileum. A protruded lesion 2.5 cm in longitudinal diameter was detected in the ileum of a patient who underwent barium enema following melena in October 1986. The patient was admitted to our hospital for surgery in January 1987, when barium enema was performed again, revealing a circumscribed stenotic lesion 4.5 cm in longitudinal diameter. According to surgical and pathological findings, the tumor was diagnosed to be a circumscribed stenotic lesion located 50 cm oral from the ileocecal valve in the ileum, and was histologically confirmed to be non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphoma (diffuse, large cell type) of SSγn0P0H0. The tumor volume doubling time assessed by barium enema was 32 days.
