A CASE OF INTERNAL HERNIA THROUGH AN ABNORMAL DEFECT IN THE BROAD LIGAMENT
The journal of the Japanese Practical Surgeon Society(1994)
Abstract
Internal hernia through a defect of the broad ligament of the uterus is an uncommon cause of interstinal obstruction. Such a case in a 58-year-old woman is described. The patient underwent laparotomy under a diagnosis of stragulated ileus. During surgery abnormal defects were found in the bilateral broad ligaments of the uterus. The small intestine by 30-50cm from the ileocecal region was incarcerated through the defect in the left broad ligament. No sign of gangrene was noted. The hernia was repaired manually, and the bilateral defects were closed. Postoperative course was uneventful.
