Application of matching pursuit in prediction of weak reflection reservoir in intra-platform shoal, Tarim Basin

Summary Matching pursuit is a method of adaptive decomposition based on wavelet library scanning which has obvious advantages over linear time-frequency analysis method such as short time Fourier transform and continuous wavelet transform in time-frequency resolution and energy focus. Tuning effect between the mudstone of Ordovician Sangtamu Formation and the three sets of thin limestone of underlying Lianglitage Formation, Tumuxiuke Formation and Yijianfang Formation, wave impedance differences between limestone interiors intra-platform shoal and surrounding rock make it hard to distinguish reservoirs. In view of the two difficulties, multi -wavelet decomposition and reconstruction technique were used to effectively distinguish the top of Yijianfang reservoir and characterize the distribution of intra-platform shoal reservoirs. It turned out that the prediction results are consistent with the actual drilling data.
