Analysis of Defects in 454 Surgical Safety Checklists and Risk Assessment Forms

AbstractObjective. The quality of writing surgical safety checklists and risk assessment forms of our hospital is counted and analyzed, to increase surgical safety and improve medical quality. Methods. Problems in 454 surgical safety checklists and risk assessment forms are analyzed, using the surgical safety checklist and the risk assessment form published by the Chinese Hospital Association as a guideline. Results. There are 282 defects in the 454 surgical safety checklists, in which the main defective items sequentially include the following items: 83 errors in filling the drug allergy history of patients, accounting for 29.4%; 58 fillings missed on preparation of blood before surgery, accounting for 20.6%. There are 244 defects in the surgical risk assessment forms, in which the main defective items are as follows: 143 cases of absence of surgical incision cleanliness, accounting for 58.6%; 43 cases of absence of the time duration of the operation, accounting for 17.6%, and 40 cases of absence of anes...
