Elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) are not eligible for intensive chemotherapy due to high risk of treatment-related mortality. In Asia, less intensive chemotherapy regimen consists of low-dose cytarabine and aclarubicin in combination with G-CSF (CAG) has been used for those elderly AML/MDS patients.
