Earth Models at the Low Andarax River Valley (SE Spain) by Means of Cross-Correlation of Ambient Noise

The Low Andarax River valley is located in an active seismic region, with the higher seismic hazard values in Spain, where shallow seismic series occur frequently. The landform is composed mainly by sedimentary materials which increase its seismic hazard due to the amplification of the seismic inputs and spectral resonances. We study the elastodynamic structure of the Low Andarax River by means of the analysis of the coherence function of the ambient noise. A field campaign consisting in tracing six profiles perpendicular to the Andarax river has been performed. The main goal is to find the depth to the basement along the profile. The models found are consistent with the geology of this region.
