Abstract
The organic hallucinosis (O.H.) is a syndrome consisting of both recurrent and/or permanent hallucinations which takes place in the context of preserving the orientation and awareness, after brain or systemic dysfunction that causes brain damage. Although usually occurs as a result of toxic processes, it can also occurs following circumscribed or difuse brain injury. Traumatic head injuries (THI) are included in these pathological conditions. We report the case of a patient who, after a traumatic head injury (THI), began with auditory and visual hallucinations of a recurring nature, with the additional feature of having complete insight. We implemented several treatments with different antipsychotics, because of multiple side effects, achieving finally stability after establishing palmitato of paliperidone extended-release injectable 150 mg / month, with excellent effectiveness and tolerability. Finally, we shortly review the psychotic disorders that appear after a head injury.
