Abstract
The Integrated Optics Rotation Sensor (IORS) is a rugged, lightweight and low cost gyro instrument which we have developed under ARPA SBIR funding. The design of the gyro is very simple, and can be adapted to quite a number of military and commercial applications. In the commercial sector, we have found our gyro compatible with the requirements of a yaw sensor to be used as an antiskid safety device in cars. On the military side, we are applying our gyro to applications in the areas of navigation and control for airborne vehicles and smart munitions. In addition, we are currently in the process of customizing our generic design for robotic sensing and control both for NASA and private industry. We see the IORS as a viable commercial product, and intend to continue to market it to both the commercial and military sectors.
