Abstract
Despite all the advances in medicine, chorioamnionitis are still an important cause of morbidity and mortality. Intrauterine infections are the most important cause of chorioamnionitis. Antenatal infections may lead to serious problems such as preterm birth and loss of the Fets in the early period and in the long term mental retardation, cerebral palsy, retinopathy of prematurity, bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Early treatment of the etiology is still the most effective treatment in terms of reducing infant and maternal morbidity and mortality. In this article, we review the etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology and clinical importance of chorioamnionitis for the fets.
