A hybrid decision support for bidding in the spot energy market

In this paper we assume an open market model where the competition among the market players takes place through a Power Exchange. In this environment, an intelligent system is presented to support bidding strategies of a Generation Company in order to optimize the profit in the spot energy pool. The architecture of the system and building blocks are described along with data flow. The emphasis is on the need to integrate different Al technologies with traditional mathematical modeling and optimization to cope with increasing complexity of the decision making process in a competitive electricity market.
