Abstract
Within the scope of this study, variants of titanium dioxide (TiO2)-containing aggregates were produced and optimized in terms of their strength, polishing resistance, wearing resistance and the durability of the photocatalytic performance. The aggregates were spread on the asphalt pavement surface coated with epoxy resin in order to decompose the emitted nitric oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gas of the vehicles as quickly and effectively as possible. From the results, it was ascertained that durable NOx degradation can be achievable by using the TiO2 in the spreading materials on asphalt road surface following the developed procedure. Thus, an important step of building environment-friendly road surfaces with NOx degradation is taken.
