Abstract
A high efficiency wide bandwidth envelope tracking power is presented with multi-carrier results. The bandlimited slowed Adagio envelope shaping technique was used to enable multicarrier envelope tracking and enhance the capability of current analog envelope modulators. Adagio envelope shaping algorithm was developed with ease of implementation on FPGA with low resource allocations and latency. The effects of Adagio envelope on the RFPA efficiency was minimized and the overall ETPA efficiency was found to be significantly higher than conventional PA topologies. To validate the linearizability of the ETPA with Adagio envelope, four 10 MHz carriers spanned across 200 MHz bandwidth was demonstrated. The resulting ETPA achieved 43.5% efficiency with 10W average output power, simultaneously with high linearity of 1% EVM and better than 50 dBc ACPR.
