Progress report on polarization of irradiated 6LiD and 7LiH

6Li and deuteron polarizations of 37% and 43%, respectively, and 7Li and proton polarizations of 47% and 56%, respectively, have been obtained at 2.5 Tesla magnetic field in samples of ∼2 cm3 irradiated at 180 K with total electron flux of several 1017 electrons/cm2. For 6LiD as polarized neutron target it is expected (and for LiH as polarized proton target it is conjectured) that polarization of the Li nuclei results in average neutron (proton) polarizations substantially larger than in other target materials.
