Insect Development Inhibitors from Coleopsis lanceolata L.

Two ovicides and two larval growth inhibitors against Drosophila melanogaster were isolated from Coleopsis lanceolata L. The two ovicides were identified with 1-phenylhepta-1,3,5-triyne (1) and 2-phenyl-5-(1′-propynyl)-thiophene (2), and the two larval growth inhibitors were structurally characterized as 3-(4-isobutyryloxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-propen-3-ol (3) and 3-(4-isobutyryloxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2,3-epoxypropan-1-ol (4) on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence.
