Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of different model assumptions on the calculated characteristics of air showers at energies 10(17) - 10(20) eV. The analysis is carried out in the framework of the quark-gluon string model (jet generation and charm production included). The experimental data, obtained with giant air shower arrays are discussed.
