Abstract
We discuss several kinds of local optimization methods for simulating hysteretic behavior of magnetic systems. Through minimization of system's total free energy over local domains by such techniques, quasi-static magnetization curves and torque curves can be captured. This approach can be applied to exchange coupled multilayer thin films used in GMR read heads for ultrahigh density magnetic data storage.
