Abstract
The work deals with the problem of the ambient dose equivalent measurements in high energy neutron fields by means of recombination ionization chamber. The method is based on the measurements of the absorbed dose and the recombination index of radiation quality Q(4r) The chamber specific correction factor 9(Q(4r)) was introduced in order to account for different neutron spectra. The correction factor depends only on the measured value Of Q(4r) and substitutes for other corrections. The relationship between g and Q(4r) was established experimentally by the measurements in monoenergetic reference neutron radiation fields and in stray high energy radiation fields at CERF facility in CERN, at high-energy proton accelerator and in the maze of the carbon ion therapeutic beam at GSI in Darmstadt (Germany). The accuracy of the measurements is estimated to about 20%.
