A Flexible Wavefield Simulation Method for Layered Viscoelastic Media with Dipping Interfaces

In this work, we propose a flexible algorithm for simulating seismic wave propagation in dipping layered viscoelastic media, which has taken the frequency dispersion into account. Since the vector wave equations are independent on the coordinate system, we study the wave propagation in the global and local coordinate systems alternately. Firstly, for single dipping interface, the reflection and transmission coefficients of plane wave and the expressions of secondary waves are derived by coordinate transforming. Then the reflection and transmission coefficients of multi-layered media with dipping interfaces are obtained by recursive approach. Lastly, the wavefield for point source is synthesized with a fast integral method. A novel integral path is chosen through comparison. This method can effectively calculate various partial wavefields, e.g., primary reflected P waves or primary reflected S waves, P-S or S-P converted waves, and the multiples which we are interested in. Synthetic records with our method are consistent with the results of finite difference method, and our method is faster.
