Abstract
The French Classification of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a multiaxial diagnostic system specifically devoted to these ages. Unlike the V(th) chapter of LCD-10 and the DSM-IV, which are syndromic classifications, it is organized on a hierarchical basis. On axis I, five groups of principal categories are exclusive and correspond to psychopathological structures, in reference to psychodynamic concepts. Complementary categories are used to record significant clinical features, which have to be associated to one of the psychopathological structure. This new revision (CFFMEA R 2010) ensures an almost total compatibility with the V(th) chapter of ICD-10; and brings more complementary items (one complete chapter has been added), while the general organization of the classification is maintained.
