Abstract
Aim: To investigate incidence of adenomyosis in patients who were operated for benign conditions such as abnormal uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids and endometrial hyperplasia and to compare our results with the literature. Material and Methods: Histopathological results of 383 patients who underwent hysterectomy for benign conditions between January 2009 and December 2012 were reviewed and the results were analyzed. Results: Presence of adenomyosis was detected in pathology reports of 105 patients (27.4%) out of 383 who were included in this study. The most frequent pathologies accompanying adenomyosis were uterine fibroids. Coexistence of adenomyosis and uterine fibroids was detected in 84 (21.9%) patients.
