Abstract
Burundian soils are poor by aluminum toxicity, Ca, Mg, K and S deficiency, beside a weak microbial activity with nitrogen fixation deficiency. To solve such problem, the tests aiming an optimal combination of the organic, mineral manure and chalky amendments have been driven to Kabarore and Rutegama on climbing bean Umuhoro, Umukutsa variety and Ndinamagara potato variety on ferralitic soils. The results confirming the effect positive of this combination have been recorded but let some questions always on the effect of chalky amendments on such types of soils. In acidic soils, yearly quantities of 250 to 500 kg/ha/season of limestone can be sufficient to saturate adsorbant complex to improve the fertility of soil by few years leading to better production. Thus, the combination of complete manure including all elements major NPK, manure and a light dose of limestone are useful. Anti-erosive measures should be combined to such technology in region where people are facing soil erosion effects.
