Thus, anisotropic prestack depth migration (PSDM) is needed to image subsurface structures. In this paper, we investigated the application of kriging interpolation with external drift to estimate the velocity. Then, we discussed the method to update velocity and to calculate the anisotropic parameters, migration parameters and travel time. Anisotropic prestack depth migration sections in deepwater area in South China Sea show considerable improvements in subsurface image. The contort and distortion are restored. Besides, true layer structures are obtained, and the concidence of image and log data are improved.
