Variation Of Water Parameters At The Site Of The Baikal Experiment And Their Effect On The Detector Performance
24TH INTERNATIONAL COSMIC RAY CONFERENCE, VOL 1: HE SESSIONS - CONTRIBUTED PAPERS(1995)
摘要
Deep underwater neutrino telescopes provide a unique possibility to monitor the behaviour of the surrounding water volume. The observed variation of water parameters are of extraordinary interest for limnologists and oceanographers. Its influence to the performance of the detector as a neutrino telescope is either negligible or, with the help of continuous monitoring, may be corrected for. We discuss results of measurements performed over many years at the site of the Baikal detector and their influence onto different measured values like muon counting rates or detection efficiencies.
