•First four isolations of KPC-producing organisms in New Zealand.•KPC types included KPC-2 and KPC-3.•All four isolates were K. pneumoniae belonging to different MLST clonal complexes.•All four patients recently hospitalised overseas: China, India, Greece and Italy.•No evidence of transmission of KPC-producing organisms within NZ.
