APPLICATION OF XENON-FREON AND XENON-PROPANE MIXTURES IN BUBBLE CHAMBERS

The performances of xenon mixed with freon-l2(CCl/sub 2/F/sub 2/) and xenon with propane (C/sub 3/H/sub 8/) were tested in a 44-cm/sup 3/ bubble chamber constructed of stainless steel. The chamber windows were of plexiglass; chamber pressure was 40 atm. Tracks frora a 30 mu c source were observed. The results show that the time sensitivity of the camera exceeded 30 mu sec. Characteristics of the mixtures at 25 deg C are tabulated. (R.V.J.)
