System Response of Full-Scale Reinforced Concrete Framing Systems to Column Removal and Blast Loading

This paper presents an overview of the issues associated with enhancing the resilience and robustness of the infrastructure. Key phenomena pertaining to global response and collapse resilience are described, and the kinds of results garnered from tests and issues associated with testing are mentioned. In this regard, deficiencies are described in the knowledge base related to the phenomena associated with the global response and failure modes of structural systems. Impediments to developing effective methodologies for specifically adding resilience to framing systems as part of their designs are also identified. Finally, the sorts of tests and testing setups that may be used to provide useful information are described.
