Early Mortality in Elderly Patients With Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma Treated With Novel Agents
Clinical Lymphoma Myeloma and Leukemia(2015)
Abstract
Early mortality in multiple myeloma (MM) is due to the effects of active disease, comorbidities and treatment-related complications. With conventional chemotherapy, early toxic deaths were 10% in the first 2 months. Novel agents have improved MM outcome at the expense of newer toxicity. We have studied early deaths in a series of patients treated with novel agents and enrolled in 2 phase 3 trials to assess the rate and the causes of toxic deaths.
