摘要
Nuclei in the region of Gd162-165 are well deformed and therefore have excitation modes that are well explained by the collective model. We report results from two separate experiments. The first comes from the beta-decay of Eu isotopes produced at the HRIBF facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and measured at the Low-energy Radioactive Ion Beam Spectroscopy Station (LeRIBSS). The authors associated with this collaboration are shown with an *. The second study comes from the prompt gamma ray emission of Cf-252 fission fragments measured with Gammasphere. From the beta-decay experiment we have measured the decays of Eu162-165. We report collective band structures in Gd-162,Gd-164. In addition we present new measurements of the half-lives of Eu-162,Eu-163. In the SF data we measure gamma rays associated with Gd-162,Gd-164. In both studies collective structures are seen and analyzed. Considering the phenomenon of shifted identical yrast bands in this region, we explore systematics of non-yrast bands as well. We also highlight the complementary role between the beta-decay studies and the prompt gamma-ray decay of fission fragments.
