Revisiting the Lithium Iron Borate (LiFeBO3) Cathode System: Synthetic and Electrochemical Findings

摘要
To realize sustainable synthesis of polyanionic cathode materials, we have designed a solution combustion synthesis to produce cathodes with less energy-demanding annealing conditions. Using it, we have revisited the high-capacity LiFeBO3 cathode system. Due optimization of process parameters have led to the realization of phase-pure LiFeBO3 by using low-cost Fe(III)-based precursor and by restricting the annealing temperature to 400 degrees C for just 1 hour. The resulting material led to a reversible discharge capacity approaching 200 mAh/g with steady cycling stability. The details of solution combustion prepared LiFeBO3 cathode have been described in brief.
