Analysis Of Image-Based And Text-Based Medical Gross Anatomy Exam Questions Administered Using Examsoft

The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of image based exam questions administered using ExamSoft in a medical gross anatomy course. ExamSoft questions were analyzed to determine if there are any discrepancies between performances on image‐based questions compared to text‐based questions. This study analyzed four multiple choice unit exams, one from each block of the course. Comparisons were made between each individuals' performance on image‐based questions and text‐based questions. Chi‐square tests were used to identify significant differences between the question types and the students' success on the question. The participants of the study included first year medical students at The University of Mississippi Medical Center enrolled in the medical gross anatomy course. Results of this study help to identify the effectiveness of image‐based multiple choice questions presented in Examsoft which allows professors to create more effective assessments of student learning.
