Magnetic and photocatalytic response of Ag-doped ZnFeO nano-composites for photocatalytic degradation of reactive dyes in aqueous solution

•Self-consistent sol–gel based auto-combustion route was used.•Photocatalytic degradation of reactive dyes in aqueous solution was investigated.•Due to Ag doping, band gap reduced.•Activity of Ag-doped samples was higher than that of un-doped ones.
