New asymmetrical dimethine cyanines (Va–f) and their bases (VIa,b), incorporating pyrazolo(3,4-d)-8-amino-1-azaquinoxaline moiety or its ethiodide, have been prepared and tested for their antibacterial and fungicidal activities.
